The Workforce Diversity Project is a national research project with the primary objective of Identifying Gaps and Opportunities in Energy-Sector Jobs, Careers, and Programs.

The Historically Black Colleges and Universities Clean Energy Initiative (HBCU CEI)- a strategic initiative of the HBCU Community Development Action Coalitionis a key partner representing HBCUs and Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs) in this very important diversity-focused research collaborative.

The project is supported by the United States Department of Energy and seeks to Increase Energy Sector Economic Opportunity through Data-Driven Stakeholder Engagement of HBCU Faculty and Students.  Specific comprehensive goals of the project include:

  1. Conducting research on disparities in the U.S. energy economy using both quantitative and qualitative data and information analysis.
  2. Developing data-driven recommendations for state energy, economic development, and workforce development policies and programs.
  3. Catalyzing joint action on energy sector workforce diversity by cultivating relationships among state-level energy policy makers and minority-serving academic institutions, with a focus on regions experiencing the large job loss impacts due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

To support this project, HBCU CEI requests your assistance in raising the visibility and understanding of existing programs offered, and resources available, at HBCUs to support the U.S. energy workforce.  Please complete the questionnaire by clicking the link below to share information about your institution’s existing energy and energy-related academic programs and resources.
